Dehli blast toll hits 13; Pulwama docter likely sole car occupant

As the death toll in the red fort blast rose to 13 on tuesday ( November 11,2025), a docter from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has emerged as the likely sole occupant of the car which exploded in the national capital on Monday ( November 10 ) evening, senior goverments officials told.

Initial investhing seems to suggest that the bomb was premature and did not cause as much damage as it could have, as the suspect was acting hastily due to the pressure of police raids that had already led to the arrest of two of his colleagues.

Explosion near Red Fort updates November 11,2025

on tuesday (November 11), the Union ministry of home Affairs (MHA) handed over the probe to the National investigation Agency (NIA).
The docter , identified as Umar Nabi, was teaching at the AI-Falah University in Faridabad , near dehli. He was also killed in the explosion, officials said that he left Kashmir for Dehli in March 2024. A general medicine specialist, he had been a topper at General Medical College, Srinagar. A preliminary probe has found that “powerful explosives” were used in the blast, whose impact was so strong that none of Dr. Nabi’s body part could be retrieved from the car. The J&K police has collected DNA samples from his family which will be matched with the remains found in the burnt car.

Evading police raid

Dr. Nabi had possibly been trying to escape an ongoing raid by the Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and uttar pradesh police, which has led to the arrest of eight people over the past 15days, including three doctors.

In a big revelation in the dehli blast case, key suspect Muzammil has told the investigators that he and Umar had recced the Red Fort before the explosion in the area left nine people dead. According to sources, Muzammil has been questioned and confronted with information recovered from his phone’s data dump. During questioning, Muzammil said there was an attack plan for January 26 next year, and the area around Red Fort was recced as part of it.

Premature bomb, limited impact
Another government source said that Dr.Nabi was initially not a suspect and by the time his role became, after the explosives were seized from Faridabad on November 9 and 10, “he went missing”
“raids by security agencies across multiple locations in Dehli-NCR and Pulwama, recorvering significant quantities of explosives, are believed to have led the suspect to act hastily under mounting pressure. The bomb was premature and not fully developed, thus limiting the impact. It did not create a crater, and no shrapnel or projectiles were found,” the source said

After the powerful explosion in the slow-moving Hyundai i20 car aruound 7p.m. on Monday (November 10), the inestigating agencies scoured CCTV footage to look for clues. A government source told that car be seen on the CCTV footage, entering Dehli from Faridabad throuht the Badarpur toll plaza at 7:04 a.m. on Monday (November10) morning. In the video, accessed by the driver can be seen wearing a black mask and paying cash at the toll gate. A beg be seen on the rear seat.
